A. Why proof?
We recommend you always order a proof if you want to be certain the final prints will be as you anticipate. Proofs are intended to be ordered prior to placing large or final orders in order to check for color accuracy, quality, and visual content. Please note that PDF files will not always print as anticipated. Read more about this in our File Setup Guide.
B. What if you choose to waive a proof?
Proofing is the sole responsibility of you as a customer, and if proofs are not requested then you specifically agree to accept any print we produce unchecked and at your own risk. If you choose not to order a physical proof then we can only output your file on the understanding that we have nothing to visually check against. In waiving a proof, you agree to accept the prints that we anticipate as being correct.
If your print has a QR code we are not responsible for ensuring that QR codes scan properly on printed materials. We strongly encourage customers to order a proof to verify the functionality of the code before final production.
C. What does a proof guarantee for you?
Once a physical proof has been approved by the end user, we can guarantee that your final resulting prints from the exact files proofed will be as close to the proof as possible within a fair degree of industry standard tolerance. Please note that after a proof is approved, Cards & Pockets will not be held responsible for any discrepancies including any misprint, misspelled words, wrong color codes or layout content. We accept no liability for any errors not corrected by you after on inspection of proofs. Similarly, we recommend ordering updated proofs if you make any changes to your files. Changing the files after proofing waives any guarantee on the final results.
Please plan plenty of time to sit with your proofs- both for PDF proofs and physical printed proofs. It is a good idea to review them a few times, and show them to friends and family who may catch errors that you don’t pick up on. It is especially crucial that you pay careful attention to spelling errors, grammatical errors, layout, font appearance, and the sizes of the final prints (how they fit in your pocket fold, how they layer with your mats, how they stack, etc). Once proofs are approved, C&P can not be held responsible for any content or sizing issues. In the event that there is a content or sizing issue with the final prints, C&P will do its best to assist with a quick reprint on request- however, the customer is responsible for printing and shipping costs.
D. What will not be guaranteed with a proof?
Due to differences in equipment, paper, inks and other conditions between color proofing and production runs, a reasonable variation in paper, print color and cut between proofs and the completed job will be deemed acceptable per industry standards. Also, regardless of whether or not you ordered a proof, we reserve the right to stop printing on your final order at any point if we find that the file(s) violate our terms and conditions.
